My Monitor cannot discover my home Wi-Fi network.

During the setup process, my Monitor is unable to discover my home Wi-Fi network.

Solution

Note: The StreamLabs Monitor is currently incompatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. Ensure that your home network is compatible by either checking that you have a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, or if you own a dual band router, check that the 2.4 GHz option is enabled.

If your network is compatible and the problem persists, consider the following solutions:

  • Out of Range/Interference: It is possible that your Monitor is out of range or there is interference. REMEMBER, for the initial Wi-Fi setup process, you do not need to be at the site of installation. Verify you are able to discover your Wi-Fi network from the install site with another Wi-Fi compatible device, such as a cellphone. You can verify your signal strength at the install site using the StreamLabs app: in the app, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and check the signal strength on the following page. It will display either "Good", "Fair", or "Poor".  If the problem persists, move the Monitor closer to the Wi-Fi router to increase the strength.
  • Hidden Network: If you have chosen to keep your home network hidden, choose the “My home network is not listed” button on the Streamlabs App to manually enter your network’s SSID, password and security type information.
  • Restart Router: Your router may be the cause of the issue. Try restarting it. While a simple power cycle may be sufficient, please refer to your router’s documentation on how to do so. Once your router has completely restarted, power cycle your Monitor as well to scan for and discover newly available networks.
  • Incompatible Security: If you are using an older router that supports multiple WEP keys, make sure to input the WEP key in the first WEP key slot on your router into your app. The Monitor will not be able to connect using any WEP keys other than the first key listed in your router.
  • Dual Band Router Discrepancies: If your router has both a 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz band, it is possible that each band has its own unique password. Make sure that you are using the correct password for the 2.4 GHz band, and that the 2.4 GHz band is turned on.
