Subscription needed to access API?
Has there been any more discussion about this? While the additional reporting and feature enhancements are nice and I would be willing to pay for them, access to the API should not be a premium feature.
I welcome other customer thought on this.

I concur with scottcunnyngham comments. The new features might be worth additional subscription fees however I hope the company reconsiders charging for access to the API, particularly since it used to be included in the cost of the hardware. Typically API use by developers is encouraged to further the use of a product; charging for the API often is counterproductive to encouraging sales.

Automated access to water consumption of a single location is not worth $72/year to me. That's about the cost of a water meter with pulse output for local integration for home automation.
Bit of a shame that I'll lose API access now, but I see that there is an option to manually download the data as a CSV file via the website.
